Achievements
- Emarika pre-school for orpahns and local children was opened in 2006 with an enrolment of 28 children, which has since increased to 40.
-
In 2007 we opened a second pre-school, Salika pre-school in Halale where currently 52 children are enrolled.
-
Sethule also supports a total of 4 pre-schools within the community bringing the total number of children to 190.
-
Sethule is currently providing employment for 21 local people including 5 teachers.
- Sethule's first ever university student, graduated in December 2007. A second student graduated from the University of South Africa with a marketing degree at the end of 2008. Currently, through the Sethule Scholarship Fund, the Trust supports 5 college students as well as 72 pupils in primary and secondary schools.
- In 2007 the gardening project had grown large enough to feed Emarika pre-school and to date it provides food for all the orphans.
- In 2008, a 70 metre borehole was sunk to provide water for the local community. Various problems were encounted during the drilling of the borehole but finally in 2009, there was enough water for the Emarika pre-school and for those homes close by.
- In 2009 a maize grinding machine was installed and a building constructed to house it. This enables the locals to have their maize crop ground for their staple diet and generates an income for orphan care.
- Also in 2009, Sethule saw an increased number of 'donor parents' willing to support the orphan project. With the daily increasing number of orphans in Zimbabwe, we are constantly on the look out for more 'donor parents'.
- In June 2010 a dormitory to house orphans coming for the bereavement counselling programme was completed.
