Background Information
The greatest threat facing vunerable children is the effects from the ever increasing incidence of HIV/AIDS.
Sethule Orphans Trust is an orphan care project in some of the poorest rural communities such as Matopo, Hope Fountain and Tsholotsho. It is a locally driven Trust which seeks to reverse family disintegration resulting from the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS, poverty, consequently leading to countless numbers of orphans and 'child headed families'.
The Sethule project is truly driven by the community itself where the project director and board meet with the local community leaders to ascertain their own conception of their needs, and work to facilitate provision of those needs.
The model of a community-driven project thus embodied by Sethule is one that we seek to develop, popularize, and spread to other communities close by, and ultimately further afield.
